Available: late 80s early 90s
Brief history of car:
The Carlton Acer is a reproduction of the Turner Sports of the 1960s. Updated to use Vauxhall Viva/Magnum engines and running gear (and possibly Ford and Fiat engines)
Based on a deep box section steel chassis for the Vauxhall components to hang onto the bodywork is made of GRP of various thicknesses. Components come from various sources such as a Volvo 122 windscreen, Marina wiper assembly, rear lights from a Sunbeam Alpine.
Kit prices at the time were 1250GBP for the body chassis kit. Manufacturer estimates for a shoestring build were 2000GBP....but do they ever get it right?
Coming soon...
